I Am A Disabled Soldier

By November 21, 2013Iraq, Refugee Relief

I was a soldier in the regime – just a soldier following orders to try and restore order in our country. We were in a building, and I had a disagreement with our officers. They threw me from a five-story window in an attempt to kill me. Unfortunately, I survived.

My back was shattered. Although I have had surgery, I can barely walk. My mind isn’t sharp, and my vision is mostly gone. The war has stolen the balance of my life. Being among the living, but barely alive is madness.
