A Word From WC Staff

We have so much to be thankful for this year. World Compassion has seen orphans in Burma brought into a new home, Syrian refugees in Iraq give their lives to Christ, students in Afghanistan find hope for their future, and believers in China encouraged in their walk with Christ. Now, each member of our staff takes a moment to tell you what they are thankful for this year.

Kevin, Media Director

As I reflect on 2013 I can’t help but think how valuable time is. It seems to go so fast these days. I am thankful for the friends I have in my life who make that time well spent. I’m thankful for my parents who taught me to work hard and enjoy the time I have. I’m thankful for my place at World Compassion that allows me to spend my time building God’s Kingdom around the world.

Eric, Executive Director of Strategic Planning

I am thankful to be working in compassion evangelism, serving those in need around the world. After spending over 20 years in business, it is an honor and privilege to represent our partners in the work of full time ministry.

Whit, IT Director

I’m thankful for how patient God is. I’m thankful that God is always with us no matter what. I’m thankful for the meaning and purpose God gives to my life.

Jeff, Vice President of Finance

In Terry Law’s book, Your Spiritual Weapons, he talks about thanksgiving and praise being a daily requirement for believers to usher in the presence of God. As I reflect personally on those special thanks I have and for which I praise God, there is faith, family, friends and the calling which God has placed upon my life. We need to make Thanksgiving a daily celebration in our lives more than just once a year – so give thanks to God today and every day.

Dara, Administrative Assistant

Well for starters, I am thankful for my family, friends, church family, the talented and amazing WCTLM crew that I have the pleasure of ministering alongside AND the excellence that is University of Alabama Football! However, none of that can even remotely compare to the thankfulness in my heart for the unfailing love of our Father God, for redemption and LIFE that we have through His Son Jesus and for the gift of the Holy Spirit who is our continual comfort and really the best coach any one could ask for!

Jason, Vice President of Operations

I am thankful for my wife, Beth, and our two children, Addison and Logan. I’m living the dream with my family. I’m also thankful for my dad giving me the opportunity to build on the foundation of ministry he has laid, and for my wife (Beth) being supportive in what I do.

Mollie, Director of UniteMyCity

First, I’m thankful for interns! It has been a blast getting to know these young women and share this adventure with them. It is not always glorifying work, but it is glorious work.

Second, I’m thankful for such a great group of people to work with who have a heart for the Lord AND walk the talk. I’ve had the privilege of working with a few incredible folks through the years, and the staff at World Compassion puts icing on the cake!

Third, I’m thankful for my “framily.” We have a very loving and close-knit family that is beautifully accentuated by a growing number of friends who are now as close as family.

Joel, Director of International Operations

I am thankful for my amazing wife whom I have been married to for over 39 years. She is God’s amazing gift to me. Ruthie is my best friend and a daily encouragement to me. I’m thankful for our children and grandchildren…all of them are a huge delight to us. We rejoice in their exploits and development. They are amazing gifts from heaven…each one of them.

I am thankful for our country despite all its faults. We still are the land of the free and the home of the brave. Still on our currency we proclaim IN GOD WE TRUST. I’m thankful for the great men and women who preceded us in founding this nation. Our great presidents of the past George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush continue to inspire me…

I am thankful for the opportunity to be a part of our World Compassion team reaching out to the hurting in some of the more difficult places of the world. It is a great privilege to be a part of this team.

Brooke, Special Projects Coordinator

I can’t help but smile when I think of all that has happened in 2013. I am thankful for my family and my friends that encouraged me along the journey towards graduation at ORU this spring. I’m thankful for my family back home in Arizona and Utah, and now in Tulsa at ORU and Believers Church who have enriched my life.

I am thankful to have been blessed with my boyfriend Griff, who encourages me in all of my endeavors and adds joy to my life. I am thankful for David Leonard, and countless others who encouraged me in my music this year and helped me to release my first album. I owe much to the Myers family and the Nix family for equipping me to start my professional life well.

I am thrilled to be a part of the World Compassion family, working alongside some of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. I get to do what I love, with people I love, to reach the ones God loves. I could not have asked or imagined anything more.
