We talk often about the lives that are changed on account of a single Bible.
But have you ever wondered how these Bibles made their way into the hands of 215,000+ people in a nation that is 99% Muslim?
Recently, we spoke directly to a few of the people responsible for distributing the Bibles that World Compassion sends.
On the surface, they may look like ordinary people. Mothers, fathers, businessmen, students...
But these individuals are laser-focused on a Kingdom mission. They are carriers of the Gospel – a church on the move.
“Bibles are like our cell phones... We don’t leave home without one,” an Iranian pastor shared.
It’s the indigenous church in Iran that is distributing the Gospel through one-on- one, personal encounters!
When a shipment of Bibles arrives inside the country, they are divided amongst distributors from local churches who take them back to their respective regions.
From there, Bibles are given to hundreds of trustworthy people in churches throughout various cities in their region.
This is how, every month, thousands of Bibles are placed into the hands of Iranians wanting to learn more about the truth of Jesus.
Every day, these bold men and women make it their mission to distribute two or three copies to those they encounter: taxi drivers, wait staff, colleagues, and total strangers.
In other words, the physical Bibles you help provide are inspiring the Iranian church in evangelism. When you give to provide Bibles, you’re sending the message of Jesus to the furthest corners of Iran!
Between requests for Bibles through media platforms and the grassroots evangelism movement across the country, demand for Bibles cannot be met fast enough!
And more and more Iranians are taking on this mantle of leadership to introduce their neighbors to the Gospel as the church continues to grow.
This is one reason why we’re aiming to reach 100,000 people in Iran this year!
Out of the 84 million people in Iran, this may not feel like a big number... But, it’s a realistic one that we believe we can reach in a quality way through the local churches we are connected to.
Imagine 100,000 Iranians reached for Jesus this year – 100,000 people reached with the Word of God that brings much- needed life to them.
By the end of 2022, this could mean there are an additional 100,000 people in Iran who themselves become carriers of the Gospel and begin a discipleship process.
Think of the wave of evangelism and discipleship that could come from these 100,000 people!
It’s a seed sown into the advancement of the message of Jesus in a nation that is currently 99% Muslim.
It costs $7 (£6) to put God’s Word in the hands of someone in Iran. That’s $700,000 (£600,000) we need to reach 100,000 people this year.
What can you give today to help us move toward this goal?
$70 (£60) reaches 10 people in Iran.
$280 (£240) reaches 40 people.
$700 (£600) reaches 100 people.
We’re off to a good start with nearly 20,000 Bibles underway, but we need to keep the momentum going.
These Bibles are an important piece of reaching the Iranian people for Jesus, as they also create a connection point for Iranian Christians when distributing them. It’s how relationships start – opening the door to further discipleship opportunities.
As we go throughout the year, please keep this goal of reaching 100,000 people in Iran in mind. One way you can actively do that is by setting up a monthly recurring gift if you have not already.
Would you also commit to praying for this? Pray that the Bibles arrive safely, as well as for the safety and protection of those distributing every Bible. Pray for those who receive the Bibles, that their hearts are ready and open to a new life in and through Jesus.
