At this very moment, hundreds of things are vying for your attention.
We want to interrupt the noise and ask you to pause for just a moment to share with you some of the amazing ways God is working through World Compassion partners in nations restricted to the message of Jesus!
Many partners gave generously this past year to empower Christians and spark transformation in their physical and spiritual lives.
As we look forward to 2022, we do so with a sense of urgency for those living in nations hostile to the Gospel.
It goes without saying that the world is not the same place as it used to be just two years ago.
- Mandates have sparked controversy and discord.
- Inflation rates are higher than they’ve been in decades.
- Livelihoods are on the line.
- Suicide is up among kids and young adults.
- “Truth” is subjective.
- More marriages end in divorce than not.
- Worry, fear, and anxiety are dominating people’s thought lives.
It almost feels as though the darkness has gotten darker. Yet, we do not cower.
Imagine trying to navigate these tumultuous times without the hope of Jesus or the knowledge of what His Word promises us.
Imagine living in a country during these times where the light of Christ is not even known or is constantly under attack. Or perhaps you know what this feels like…
Our mission is to shine light in that darkness. As we do, it overtakes the darkness and lights the way for the world to see Jesus.
Hebrews 6:19 tells us, “This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.”
Hope keeps our soul (thoughts, will, and emotions) tethered and secure, even in the face of uncertainty, held fast and firm by the truth of God’s Word.
Around the world, entire nations and people groups exist that are completely unaware of the hope found through Jesus. This hope is inaccessible to them.
When the waves of culture, controversy, and conflict threaten to toss them to and fro, they have no anchor. They have no stability.
This is why we have a sense of urgency for those living in restricted nations. Most people in nations like Iran, Iraq, China, Myanmar and Afghanistan do not have this kind of hope!
World Compassion exists to reach these nations with the light, love, and hope of Christ. To help people discover the hope found in His promises - not just for eternity, but for today!
We read in 1 Chronicles 12:32 that, “From the tribe of Issachar, there were 200 leaders of the tribe with their relatives. All these men understood the signs of the times and knew the best course for Israel to take.”
Like the sons of Issachar, we pray to “understand the times” and “know the best course of action.”
As the temperature of culture heats up, freedoms are threatened, and so many evil ideologies compete for the allegiance of men, we sense the tempo changing.
We feel the “best course of action” is to pick up the pace! To stay on the offensive!
Here are a few goals that represent how World Compassion is picking up the pace and increasing our impact in 2022:
- Reach 100,000 people with Bibles in Iran, doubling our biggest year ever!
- Train 500 discipleship students in Iran, 2,000 in China and 1,000 in Myanmar!
- Double the number of Yazidi women reached (480 ladies) through skills training programs and reach thousands of people with the Gospel through mobile medical teams in northern Iraq!
- Continue to help Afghan refugees rebuild their lives after the Taliban takeover!
- And more…
These are just some of the ways we are unlocking the door to give hope in peoples’ lives. This hope found in Christ is what the world needs, both presently and eternally.
It’s time to keep the momentum going, equipping believers in spaces with the hope found in His promises and reaching those who don’t even know Jesus yet!
What’s In Your Hand?
One of our Bible school students in Myanmar shared recently about a promise she learned and how a new wave of hope was released in the midst of a military coup and economic downturn in her own country.
“My name is Mary. I am 61 years old. I have been a Christian for nearly 42 years. I have been studying the ABC lessons for one year. They are very encouraging to my personal life and my ministry.
The Word of God removes my anxiety, and I have peace in my life, especially in these times of hardship.
Before studying ABC, I thought we could give only when we had something extra.
After studying the lessons, I have become a generous giver and share out of what I have in my hand. God in turn gives back to me, and my blessings are overflowing.”
A little or a lot, when a gift moves from your hand to God’s, He multiplies and stretches it for maximum Kingdom impact and blesses you in return for the purpose of being able to continue to reach more people!
As we move ahead in 2022, will you join us in picking up the pace to increase our reach around the world? To keep reaching people at the tempo that our times demand, it’s going to take all of us.
A gift today will help us continue our momentum to reach 100,000 people with Scripture in Iran, start another 2,000 Bible school students in China, or provide skills training to 480 Yazidi women in northern Iraq.
As you consider what is in your hand to share, would you prayerfully consider partnering with World Compassion in 2022?
This could be the year you make reaching people with the hope of Christ a part of your personal missions strategy.
On the other side of your giving are people who stand to benefit immediately and eternally from your heart to take the message of the hope of Christ to the world.
How many lives can you transform through your giving in 2022?
And even beyond your giving, where can you “pick up the pace” this year for the sake of the Gospel? In what areas of your own life can you begin operating from the offensive, rather than the defensive or reactive?
Just as we want to see others around the world live in the peace and hope found through Jesus, our prayer is that you would continue to experience the same.
Stay Strong in the Lord,
World Compassion President
