Azad's Story
My name is Azad. I live in Iran with my wife and five-year-old child.
I’ve always had so many questions about life and God, so I decided to go to school to study Islam. I thought maybe I would find the answers I was looking for.
After studying for a while, I hadn’t found any answers to my big questions. Instead of continuing, I left the school and returned to my job as a carpenter.
It was shortly after that my brother was diagnosed with cancer. Many said this happened because I left my studies. I went back to school, fearful and desperate to help heal my brother.
I would pray for hours and ask God if there was anything he could do to help my brother. He was about to start chemotherapy. I felt so guilty, and many blamed me because I didn’t study and prove my dedication to Islam.
One day, a man named Shahid came to my store and ordered 100 pieces of wood. He asked me to put crosses on them. On a second order, he wanted me to engrave them with John 3:16.
While I was fulfilling his order, I looked at the cross and at the verse. I asked Shahid about the Son of God, questions like, “Who is He? Where is He?”
Shahid spoke with me for two hours, answering my questions. He left me with a Bible. The next few days while the job was being completed, I spent all my time reading it.
I felt like so many of my answers were found in just two days of reading the Bible. I encountered the true God and knew I needed to change my life to follow this true God.
When Shahid came to pick up his order, I told him I wanted to become a Christian. I gave my life to Jesus!
I decided to start praying for my brother’s healing in the name of Jesus.
After just a few days, my brother was 100% healed! The doctors were stunned and said he didn’t have to do chemo anymore. My family and all of my brother’s family became Christians, too!
They have all come to believe because of the miracle of healing. God turned my brother’s life around!
Now, I host a small church in my house where two others have become followers of Christ.
